A mai művészi munka szerves része az írás, kutatás, tervezés és elemzés, sőt bizonyos alkalmakkor még „hatástanulmányok” is születnek. A Work in progress kiállításon bemutatott művek esetében a kutatás mint sajátos, egyedi projekt jelenik meg. A cím arra utal, hogy az alkotás külső körülményei, a koncepciók és alkalmazott módszerek folytonos alakulása, mint az alkotás alapszituációja a mű részévé válik.
Kiállítási szerepbe kényszerítve ezeket a kezdetben dokumentációnak induló videókat a „művészet” és az „alkotás” társadalomban kialakult képéhez szólnak hozzá. Végignézhetjük egy-egy mű elkészültét anélkül, hogy megérthetnénk valójában mi is történik. Ma már nincs ihletett pillanat, a múzsák eltűntek, az önkívület és transzcendencia kívül rekedt a művészeten. A titok nem tárul fel, mert rég távozott. Helyette kemény munka van és koncepció.

Research and writing as well as planning and analysis are integral parts of contemporary artistic work. Occasionally artists even conduct “impact studies”. The works of the exhibition Work in Progress present research as a particular, individual project. The title refers to the way the external circumstances of creative work, the continuous change of concepts and methods, become part of the artwork as fundamental conditions of creation.
Constrained into the role of exhibited object, these originally documentary videos comment on the position and the image of “art” and “creative work” in today’s society. We can view the entire process of a work’s creation without having the slightest idea of what is going on. There are no moments of inspiration anymore, muses have gone; ecstasy and transcendence remain outside the scope of art. The secret is not revealed, because it is gone. What remains is hard work and the concept.
